July 4, 2,023

I am thinking about starting a blog. The Fourth of July seems an auspicious day to begin. I am currently chipping away at my “bucket list” pieces: the Beethoven Diabelli Variations and the 3 Posthumous Schubert sonatas, D. 958, 959, and 960. I think that I will have the Beethoven memorized by the end of the year, possibly even at a performance level. I have already performed the Schubert D. 959 several times for audiences, and I am now working hard on the D. 958. I have performed the B Flat Major (D. 960) in the past, so I think I will be able to get in a shorter time frame than the other two. Is year end too optimistic for having all three memorized?
